Bangkok Air Catering staged its first operational readiness trial at the new international airport.

As advised by Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra that the Suvarnabhumi International Airport will be ready for operations in 180 days from 30th December, 2005. In other words, it would be officially inaugurated in the late of June, 2006. However, the exact opening date has yet to be confirmed.

Nevertheless, Bangkok Air Catering today staged its first operational readiness trial at the Suvarnabhumi Airport which has been postponed from 10th January, 2006 to the second week of February, 2006. This postponement was not because Bangkok Air Catering was not ready but due to other reasons. The trial will continue testing twice a week until April, 2006, two months prior to the official opening to commercial traffic set in June, according to Airport Authority of Thailand.

The trials are a series of planned exercise to test passenger handling, catering, cargo, together with other functions ahead of airport opening.

The aim of trial is to test the effectiveness of employees training and to ensure that all systems as far as possible are functioning efficiently and effectively when the airport opens. The trials will be a very good opportunity for us to identify some areas where operational enhancement can be made before the opening of the new airport.

Bangkok Air Catering is now ready for business
Since the construction and interior decoration of domestic kitchen as well as the office areas are completely finished, therefore, Bangkok Air Catering has a series of planned to relocate the office to the new facility by the end of February, 2006, followed by the food presentation to several international airlines from the mid of March, 2006 onwards. And as soon as the official opening date of the new international airport has been announced, Bangkok Air Catering will schedule to start the fully operation since the catering needs to be implemented two or three months prior the commencement of the new airport.

Bangkok Air Catering at Suvarnabhumi Airport is ready for business and will be ready for much more in the near future.

First BAC outing at Kao Yai, 7-8 January, 2006
On January 7th – 8th, 2006, BAC team members had joined the first outing to Khao Yai at Nakornratchasrima (approximately 200 kilometers from Bangkok) by receiving the support from Chaiman, Mr. Thavatvong Thanasumitra, and Managing Director, Mr. Linus Knobel. The purpose of the outing is to develop a team spirit among team members.

Upon arrival, Khao Yai Winery offered complementary guided tours of the vineyards, industrial unit and wine shop. Although, we already have several wine experiences but we were delighted to have wine master like Mr. Prayut Pianbunta to explain and demonstrate the wine making process.

The vineyards of PB Valley settle beautifully on a valley over 800 acres, 300 meters above sea level. With its professional, large-scale wine operation featuring state-of-art technology, it strives to produce world-class wines. Furthermore, its wine was selected to serve dignitaries during the Asia-Pacific-Economic-Cooperation 2003 (APEC) held in Bangkok as well as Miss Universe 2005 which also held in Bangkok.

After we walked through the beautiful vineyards, we all head to the local restaurant to have a scrumptious lunch. And then, we were participated in a three hour Farm Chokchai Tour, Thailand’s biggest beef and dairy ranch. The tour included milking demonstration by using automated systems and hand, milk and ice cream making process illustration, horse riding and open zoo where we all can get close to the animals.

The next day morning, we were experiencing in grape picking in which PB Valley provided the excellent guidance for us. Afterwards, we had enjoyed the charming breakfast on a green hillside overlook the beautiful vineyards of the PB Valley.

Later, we moved to another winery called GranMonte which has a perfect environmental setting including serene atmosphere and truly beautiful surrounding. GranMonte has all the right microclimate conditions ideal for growing high quality grapes especially for wine making. At GranMonte, we had opportunity to test Chenin Blanc White Wine which its tastes was very smooth, soft and refreshing. And we were also enjoyed with a tasty dessert simultaneously..
This outing was amazing and relaxing trip amidst beautiful surroundings, allowing everyone to enjoy and socialize with each other. Our first outing at Khao Yai was a truly memorable experience in which we will always remember!
